From the Mountains of My Mind

"Every sunrise is an alter that compels me to kneel"

An ongoing series exploring the experience of the photographer within the landscape. Multiple photographs of flora overlayed create surreal textures and colour palettes. Stacking objective reality overtop itself repeatedly to push beyond the limitations of a single image. The grasses, the trees, the flowers, etc, all are as essential to the experience as the view itself. By combining them, I hope to do justice to my actual experience of these incredible places.

Eden

"We have been lost since we left the garden."

A series of 5 photos taken over the course of a year, from one spring to the next. Imagining the first spring, in the first garden, a place deep in our collective subconscious that we long to return to but never can. This series utilizes blooming flowers of rhododendron, plum, magnolia, and cherry overlayed onto a classic icon of spring: the cherry tree.

Psychotropic Pixels

"In the headspace where there is no space and your mind is miles away"

An ongoing series utilizing my signature overlay technique, pushed to the boundaries of its limits. Flowers on flowers on flower on flowers...

Night Lines

"The light is most free to be itself when there is darkness all around it"

Photographs of traffic utilizing intentional camera motion. An exploration of randomness, chance, and selective curation. Only 35 images were chosen from several hundred. The outcomes of these shoots were unpredictable; dependant on variables such as the direction of traffic, speed of my arms, size and amount of vehicles, etc.
Images were not manipulated in Photoshop.

Why NFTs?

NFTs are an artistic revolution. They allow:

- Provenance: undeniable proof that the artist created the work.

- Permanent records of sales and trades.

-Dynamic integration. Selling work digitally allows for the integration of code (see Amber Slips Away), animations (see abstract series), etc, not possible in print.

- Royalties for the artist on secondary sales. Although these are unenforceable, through a culture of mutual respect, the seller can choose to honour the artist's suggested royalty request and this choice is visible on chain.

- The artist to promote themselves instantly and independently to a global audience, without relying on promotors or galleries.

- Minimal marketplace fees, leaving more profit for the artist. Digital marketplaces take extremely low fees (2.5 - 15% compared to 10-70% of a traditional gallery, more commonly 40-60%).

- Art to be created and traded digitally. The world is becoming increasingly digital, like music, art can now be collected and owned in a groundbreakingly accessible way. No longer is art collecting and trading for the privileged few. My photography is natively digital, selling it this way is natural.

What about the environment?  In September of 2022, Etherium became a 'proof of stake' network, meaning buying and selling Etherium and the NFTS that are created on its network uses a mere ~0.0026 TWh/yr across the entire network (source). For comparison,  Youtube uses about 243.6 TWh (source)
